So I know I have mentioned this establishment in another post, but truly it deserves a quick review all of its own.
North Country Brewing Co. in Slippery Rock has yet to disappoint us. While it’s true we have only had the opportunity to come here 3 or 4 times now, every time it has been amazing.
They are located on Main Street in Beautiful Slippery Rock, PA. and are open 7 days a week from 11 am. There is plenty of on-street parking on Main Street as well as a public lot about a block over. It may pay to call ahead and make reservations and they do participate in the Open Table app. reservation system. Honestly, we were there this past Sunday evening around 7 pm and there was a 25-minute wait! Now that should tell you something about how good they are. Luckily sitting at the bar is first to come seating and there were a few hi-tops as well, so we grabbed one of those.
The inside is decorated with a rustic outdoors theme and is super cozy. They have several different seating areas, so there is room for everyone. They even have a small porch out front, if you stop in during warmer weather and want to sit outside at a hi-top.
I can’t even begin to recommend items here, as everything we have tried has been incredible. One thing FOR SURE that you have to try, if this is your kind of thing, are their Pub Pretzels and please, please get the Black Bear Mustard. Now I will warn you it may not be for everyone, even though it should be, but this “mustard” has got one heck of a horseradish kick to it that burns the sinuses and keeps you coming back for more. It’s so good, they sell it in mason jars to take home. And the Pretzels are killer! I have no clue what they do to them, but they are light and crispy on the outside, almost like a crispy donut, but not sweet? I can’t even describe how amazing they are. They are light and fluffy on the inside and when you get them and they are hot out of the oven… oh baby!! Sorry, I’m drooling now.
If burgers are your thing, then you will love these. You will know at first bite of their Angus burgers, that these are fresh, hand-patted, burgers. They taste incredible, with just the right seasonings. They don’t go overboard like some places and pile them high that you can’t even find the burger when you get it, they are just right. I have tried the Leroy Brown topped off with their paleo IPA BBQ and the Make Ya’ Siesta with sugar-glazed peppercorn bacon and jalapenos. So Good.
If you want salads they have those too, and I really like the Pubhouse salad myself. and we have also had the Runnin Bull Roast beef brisket sandwich, which is fantastic! They have all kinds of chicken and fish dishes, as well as pasta! And they even serve Gluten-conscious items on their menu which is great for our daughter that has Celiacs, though you do need to be careful of what items are made in a shared fryer, so do your due diligence!
Of course, they are a brewhouse, so you will want to check out the board when you get there to see what their current selections are. Brian has always enjoyed the Firehouse Red if you are looking for one to start with.
So that is about as quick as I can get. If you are in the area, and I highly recommend this area in the fall for the gorgeous scenery, do yourself a favor and stop by North Country. Tell them the Harts say hi!
